Tecno Camon 12 Air is just like the rest of the budget devices produced by Tecno this year so far but it has a unique feature that made it stand out among its brothers and this made it the first phone to be equipped with that feature in the budget category.
Tecno Camon 12 Air was released a couple of months ago but for some reason best known to the Chinese company, it was sold in Nigeria and now it here to go on sale. The below article has everything you need to know about the Tecno Camon 12 Air, ranging from the day price, key features and how well these features perform.
Tecno Camon 12 Air Design
The design adopted on the Tecno Camon 12 Air is something we have on the rest of its brothers, Tecno Camon 12 and Tecno Camon 12 Pro. We have a beautiful gradient design called Aurora which to be honest looks beautiful and it, as they say, it shows beautiful colors as it reflects light, the device comes in two colors; Ocean Blue and Alpenglow Gold.
We have a triple back camera design with the Flash laying underneath them and the central camera has this color ring which makes it unique but it, not something we haven’t seen before, to the front is a Dot-in display which is the feature I was referring to above. The Dot-in display on the Camon 12 Air is the first in Tecno’s catalog and we hope to see more of it soon, the phone has tiny edges to the sides and top and a big chin just like every other “so-called” full-screen device that have produced so far.
Tecno Camon 12 Air Display
Tecno Camon 12 Air features quite a large display of 6.5-inch FHD Dot-in display with 1600 x 720p screen resolution which is kind of disappointing because I was really hoping for an FHD+ display with 1080p just like what we have on the Y9 and Huawei Y9 Prime 2019, but Tecno has been failing in this zone actually to the extent of equipping the Tecno Camon X Pro with a 720p when Huawei was equipping its own very budget device (Huawei Y9 2019) with an FHD+ display, so, Tecno fans out there, just get used to it.
Tecno Camon 12 Air Hardware
This area is my second favorite and I guess it yours too, we’ll get to the main guy soon. So Tecno equipped the Camon 12 Air with an Helio P22 chipset with 2.0GHz Octa-core alongside a 3GB RAM to further support the mid-range processor which is nice for its price. The device is not that bad in this section, it runs your social apps smoothly and multitasking is not the best on cheap smartphones out there but yeah, let’s give it a thumb up. There is also a 32GB internal storage which can be further expanded using your usual SD card.
The device is equipped with one speaker at the bottom, a micro USB when I was expecting a Type-C, and a headphone jack port. The charging is not that fast considering the battery capacity but you get a full charge in shorter hours.
Tecno Camon 12 Air Battery
We all know too well that Tecno does a good job in terms of making batteries for their smartphone from the bottom to the top phones in their catalog. We have a non-removable 4000mAh battery capacity which is the same on the master of budget device last year “Huawei Y9 2019” and this is expected to take users through a whole with full charge, but we know that’s only possible if handled by someone that is not a heavy user, but in conclusion, the battery life is good.
Tecno Camon 12 Air Camera
This is the part you have been waiting for, I know right? There isn’t much to be discussed here, it just the regular camera setup on Camon 12 with just a small change. I was expecting the Camon 12 Air to be the “Oga” of the Camon 12 because of the Dot-in display but my hopes were crushed at the launch event.
To the back is a Triple camera setup; 16MP main shooter, 2MP lens to handle portrait shot and lastly a 5MP Ultra-wide camera to take group photos and shoot beyond your imagination as they would always say “sounds very funny”.
The camera quality will not be the same as what we have on the Camon 12 but it tried with the 16MP AI camera lens which helps out with scene detection plus it comes with an AI HDR feature, so yeah, when it comes to photography, it ok for an average user who just wants take a photo, but if you are looking for a cheap phone with a good camera, then consider this: Here
To the front is an 8MP shooter with some useful features like the AR stickers, 3D face beauty feature and others. The front camera is housed by the punch hole at the left topmost area of the device.
Tecno Camon 12 Air Software
The software is clean but not stock, it runs on Android 9 Pie based on their HiOS skin which I don’t relay fancy, it should receive Android 10 update alongside its brothers next year when it finally rolls out for all devices.
