Samsung has announced via a post that they’re finally ready to add some Galaxy S21 features to some of their recent devices. The company has started rolling out the One UI 3.1 update to Galaxy S20 Series, Note 20 Series, Z Flip, and Z Fold 2 devices in “select regions.”

The One UI 3.1 release which has been in existence since December majorly introduces camera and photo editing features. One of the features is an upgraded Single Take feature which allows users to capture multiple pictures and video formats simultaneously by tapping the shutter button. Object Eraser lets you quickly remove unwanted items from photos. Multi-mic recording, meanwhile, allows the aforementioned phones to capture audio from both the phone and a Bluetooth device to produce a great sound for videos.

It also comes with an “Eye Comfort Shield” that reduces blue light later in the day to (potentially) help you sleep. Private Share gives you more control over what you share and also regulate how long it’s available to others.

Lastly, with One UI 3.1, Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy Buds Live, and Galaxy Buds+ get Auto Switch feature that automatically switches to your Galaxy smartphone or Galaxy tablet, depending on what you are using.

The One UI 3.1 update won’t perfectly bring the interface of the Galaxy S21 experience on the older phones. It won’t have hardware-dependent features like the Director’s View showing live imagery from three cameras. However, the new software should keep your slightly older Galaxy relevant until you’re ready to upgrade to a newer one. The question to be asked right now is timing — it may take a while before your device and country get Samsung’s revised interface as it’s only in Korea for now.
