Leagoo S10 is the long-awaited device by the Chinese manufacturer which is designed beautifully to meet the need of a high-end device. The device was officially released late in 2018 with an official price of $349 which I think is very cheap and worth it. Let’s get down to the worth guys;
Leagoo S10 DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The design adopted on this device is a premium one with a glass back cover that reflects with light having dark and bright shades from different angles. The back cover is well curved with double camera design and logo beneath them, flashlight beside the cameras and lastly, short information at the bottom.
We have a big notch on this one, not like the one we have on the Huawei Y9 or Nova 3i but the likes of Tecno Camon 11 Pro, Infinix HOT S3X and many more and did u notice there was no fingerprint sensor? well, it is hidden underneath the display making it an in-display fingerprint which is still very new in the market and most of the top guys haven’t adopted this security design.
The Leagoo S10 spots a full view display with a notch and a display screen size of 6.2″ FHD+ AMOLED display covered with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 making it a scratch and dust resistant with a resolution of 2248 x 1080p, might not be the best compared to the likes of Samsung S9, iPhone X series, and many others but for it’s price, it very ok plus it features a high contrast ratio of 10,000:1, up to 400PPI (Pixel per inch) display density making it more like a premium display and finally NTSC color gamut up to 85%.
The leagoo S10 does better than some other smartphones with a higher price and same specs in terms of display.
Leagoo S10 CAMERA
The device has the best camera so far among all smartphone produced by the company, having a dual SONY AI camera of 20MP main camera + 5MP secondary camera which jobs is to bring out a nice bokeh effect (Blur background) with f/2.0 wide-angle aperture, though I would have preferred an f/1.8 to make it dope but still, it delivers in both low light and much better with enough light.
Portrait mode shot is a nice one but nothing compared to the Google Pixel 3 but I can proudly say it does a much better job than Huawei Y9, Tecno Camon 11 Pro and even high-end devices like the Zero 5, Phantom 8 and others.
The AI works pretty well and it obvious it not just for marketing purpose because when the AI kicks in, the ISP increases, resulting in the vivid display, larger color space, richer and more accurate color increment by 30% which is likely more than a typical shot.
To be honest, I’m a little disappointed on this one, the front is equipped with a 13MP Sony IMX219 AI camera with AI beauty effects, 4P Lens and the disappointing part is the f/2.4 aperture which doesn’t allow much light compare to f/2.0 that still struggles to get more light to produce a detailed photo shots.
Leagoo S10 PERFORMANCE
This is the most interesting area of this device and of course, if a device can’t perform well in this area then it not a worth comparing it to the mentioned phones above and shouldn’t even be close being an alternative of the iPhone X.
Inside the Leagoo S10 is the world’s first 12nm FinFET technology onboard AI chipset from MediaTek- Helio P60 Octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz frequency speed, featuring a big core power to improve power efficiency, power performance, and to deliver longer battery life to enjoy more time with the device on a single charge.
The onboard AI chipset has increased the performance of the device starting from its CPU, GPU and APU to work smoothly and another interesting feature is the AI smart engine with deep learning algorithm (Neuro Processing Unit) and an advanced AI intelligent to help user enhance power efficiency and performance by smartly giving system resources in real-time through learning how a user uses his/her device.
On board is a 6GB LPDDR4X RAM with a speed of about 1800MHz + 128GB internal storage to further make the device operates in a seamless way from launching large apps to playing heavy games, surfing the web without slowing down and multi-tasking with ease, meanwhile, the internal storage can be further expanded using a memory card up to 128GB.
On the power, we have a 4,050mAh non-removable battery capacity with Pump Express+ (9V/2A) fast charge technology which gets users up to 70% battery life in just 30min and takes about 1.5 hours to fully charge.
Other battery/power features include a high battery density of 650Wh/L, wireless charge technology which overpowers the one found on iPhone X because of its 10W which charges the device faster compared to 7.5W found on iPhone X.
Leagoo S10 OS AND OTHER SPECS
Leagoo S10 runs on Android version 8.1.0 Oreo which is set to receive android Pie later this year, 2019, and as for the notch, it works pretty cool with the software on the device and it pure android out of the box i.e no customized user interface, it pure Google.
Leagoo S10 is made to support up to 21 network bands across the globe so traveling with the device won’t get you into network coverage issue a and it is equipped with CAT6 network speed which is pretty high, HD voice call (Volte) which takes us to the number of SIM supported. We have a dual SIM slot on the device (Nano/Nan or MicroSD) supporting 2G, 3G and 4G LTE on both SIM.
The face unlock is not left out, with an A1 enabled face access security, the user is safe from intruder but it has not been tested if it a real face ID or picture ID like what we have on some devices that claim to have a face ID system, but regardless of that, the in-display fingerprint sensor does a good job in unlocking the device.
Since it is new, users might experience some things like you really have to put some pressure on the screen to get the device unlocked but I guess with some updates, it will be adjusted and users will get used to it and for the record, it not that bad.
Leagoo S10 is priced for just $350 or less on some stores.
